This is a traditional stone 1½ storey house. I do not know what the origin of the curious name is.

Geese at Barone
These geese are part of a sizeable flock of Pink-footed Geese (Anser brachyrhynchus). As we were watching them a passing farmer stopped and we had a discussion about how unwelcome they are to farmers. They graze on and thus destroy crops, and their droppings are a nuisance on the land. They were still in the same field when we got back three hours later.

Bogside
This modern house has been built on the site of Bogside. The windows are boarded up and there is a 'for sale' board at the end of the access lane.

Fionn Taigh
'Fionn' is Gaelic for 'white' and 'taigh' means 'house' though it is more usually (and according to Macalpine's Gaelic Dictionary incorrectly) spelled 'tigh'. It stands on the spot where the old maps show the croft or farm of Bogside, so it is understandable that the occupants might wish to re-name it, even though it is a very long time since Gaelic was spoken anywhere in this area, and the house isn't white.
