Outside the Walled Garden
It was customary to use the outer wall of a walled garden for a row of sheds and offices. This extensive range lines the road from the walled garden to the house.

Walled Garden, Cullen House Gardens
Now a field for cattle this 200 by 100 yard garden supplied Cullen House with flowers, fruit and vegetables. In the late 1950s nectarines, peaches and grapes grew in greenhouses on the North wall. A magnificent herbaceous border ran each side of a paved central path with a sundial in the centre. The Bin of Cullen 3km distant is visible in the background.

Garden House
This was the house occupied by the head gardener, and the wall behind it is the outside wall of the walled garden. Red brick was preferred for this purpose because it retains warmth and helps the fruit to thrive. The plaque above the door has a coronet, the letter 'S', presumably for Seafield, and the date 1869. Had I not seen this, I would have thought it was older than that.

Garden House
The proportions of the house and the shape of the windows suggests an 18th century date, but the plaque above the door says 1869. It was the house occupied by the head gardener of Cullen House.
