Garral View
The map suggests that this is Garral View Bungalow, but it obviously isn't a bungalow so I surmise that the name is applied to the next house along.

Schoolhouse Glen of Newmill near Keith
Although it looks like an old church the property is described as Schoolhouse on older and new maps. It appears that it is being converted into a house at present.

Glen of Newmill Schoolhouse
It's not clear when the school was built, though it is shown on the first edition of the Ordnance Survey six-inch map, surveyed in the 1860s, or why it incorporates finials in the shape of crosses, because as far as I an aware it was never a kirk, but it was still in use until the 1960s.

Glen of Newmill Schoolhouse
Sadly, the school is no longer and the building seems to be in use only for storage.

Glen of Newmill Schoolhouse
From a closer viewpoint, some of the architectural features of the former schoolhouse can be seen. The elaborate south window and chimneys, and the finials on the gables are not typical of schoolhouses, which tended to be much plainer than this one.
