Garralburn

Cattle Control
This railing is used for controlling cattle. They are induced to put their heads through the gaps to feed, and then the lever at top left is pulled, and the sloping bars move to the vertical so they cannot get their heads back out. The farmer can then do what needs to be done, for example de-horning or administering injections, without the cattle being able to move much. It must, however, be some time since the mechanism was actually used.
