Tarrycroys School
This just has the look of a Victorian school about it, in spite of the modern window frames. It was extended according to a design by Francis D Robertson of Keith, for ehich contractors' tenders were approved in August 1889.

Tarrycroys School House
Having noted that the next-door building is the former Tarrycroys School, it was a little surprising to find that this building is Tarrycroys School House, because most small Victorian country schools incorporated the teacher's living accommodation. This one seems to be an exception. Comparing the maps, it appears that this house was the original school, and that the one next door was presumably built to replace it.

Drainage Ditch
The ditch rises in a field just behind me and joins the Kitchen Burn which runs parallel to the road. The area has recently been cleared, presumably to ensure that the burn is not choked with vegetation.

Burn at Tarrycroys
The burn rises in a well here. It looks as if someone has been busy clearing the burn and its tributary from the roadside ditch.

Abercairn Nurseries
Abercairn Nurseries have been trading since 1988 but don't seem to have their own web site. I was greatly diverted to find that the first result for them in an internet search files them under childcare, day nurseries and creches.
