Ghillie Sam's house on the banks of the Spey
That's Victoria or the Penny Bridge which you see in the golden light of a fast setting sun. The fishings on this side of the river are known as the Wester Elchies beat and those on the far bank are the Aberlour Association fishings. This pool is known as the Boat Pool.

Half way through a double Spey cast
There's the Double Spey and the Single Spey cast which are casting techniques on this famous river. These casts enable the angler to cast a fly into the distance regardless of his surrounding vegetation such as trees and bushes. The water is cold today but that is only one of the occupational hazards of springtime fishing on the Spey.

Mallard Family
A Mallard duck shepherded her ducklings away from the river bank as we approached. There were actually eleven of them, although only ten are visible in this shot. I'm not sure where the eleventh one is.

Victoria Bridge spanning the mighty Spey
It's so Spring like today with an abundance of snowdrops on the right hand bank of the River Spey. The salmon fishing season began on the 11 February and to date none has been landed. However, later on today, the first of March the first salmon will be landed on a beat several miles downstream.
