Advocates' Hall, Concert Court, Aberdeen
Dating from 1869 and A-listed (http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/sc-19977-concert-hall-advocates-hall- ) largely for its interior, this building accommodates advocates (solicitors) who practice at Aberdeen courts. It is hemmed in by other building and very difficult to photograph!

The library, Advocates' Hall, Concert Court, Aberdeen
The magnificent galleried library of the Advocates' Hall, designed by Arthur Clyne, who later paired-up with John Pirie (see: http://www.scottisharchitects.org.uk/architect_full.php?id=200045 ) and designed some of Aberdeen's most splendid granite buildings including Hamilton Place and 50 Queen's Road: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3894561 . The painted ceiling is lost in the gloom... (This building is not accessible by the public, but the caretaker walked by as I was lurking outside and very kindly gave me a guided tour.)

Mortification boards, Town House, Aberdeen
There are almost 100 of these intriguing Seventeenth Century mortification boards in the entrance hall of the Town House. They commemorate bequests made by wealthy and leading citizens. The nearest one commemorates Katherine Gordon, Lady Rothiemay (née Forbes), who seemed to have a colourful life: http://womenofscotland.org.uk/women/katherine-forbes-lady-rothiemay . The crest shows Azure a saltire argent between three boars' heads couped or (for Gordon) impaling Azure three bears' heads couped argent muzzled gules (for Forbes).
