Netherkirkgate, Aberdeen
This ancient Aberdeen street is now flanked by Markies (Marks and Spencer) to the left. The bollards roughly mark the spot where Carnegie's Brae begins, which burrows under Union Street to emerge at the indoor market. There is said to be a nightclub lurking somewhere down there, too.

Chasing the 'monkey' down Union Street
An 'escaped monkey' is chased down the pavement of Union Street, Aberdeen by its 'keepers'. This was part of a publicity stunt to raise awareness of the Aberdeen Student Charities Campaign's latest fund-raising efforts. They are passing John A Dunn Limited, a shoe shop at 46 Union Street. On the right is part of Millets Camping and Leisure.

Union Street: the new look
After dithering for years over the issue, Aberdeen City Council has responded to the Covid-19 crisis of 2020 by pedestrianising Union Street to allow social distancing to be maintained more easily. Here we are looking eastwards towards the junction with Market Street; farther back is the huge tower of the town house and in the distance is the Citadel (the Salvation Army headquarters modelled on Balmoral).
