These two rows of shops have already been described in http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/990196 http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/990622 http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/988498 Opposite, in 1925, from left to right, was The York hotel, George Hardwick & Son - boot makers, William Froggatt - fish and chip shop (which was the same in the '50s and '60s), occupying two premises, was The Sheffield & Ecclesall Co-operative Society Ltd - the supermarket of its day, Allen & Binns Ltd - automobile engineers. Until I looked at the 1925 Kelly's Directory, I had forgotten what was here before Nisa and now I remember it quite vividly. It was a sizeable garage and often had some very posh cars in for repair.
