New Mills Compressor Station, Norwich

Built 1898 to produce compressed air to operate Shones air ejectors to pump sewage in Norwich. The compressors were originally operated by either steam or water turbines, the latter working on tidal flow. The steam cylinders were later removed and DC motors hooked up to provide power when there was no water flow. This is now preserved. The exterior is very undistinguished but I may find a photograph one day.
