Drug dealing around Beverley. We continue to review and act on drugs intelligence.

For operational and data protection reasons we are unable to give specific details of locations / premises or persons that we are currently interested in. We have been working with other agencies to tackle individuals of concern linked to drug misuse.

Throughout the coming weeks the trap bike will be deployed in areas of Beverley where there have been reports of cycle theft, including bike racks on Toll Gavel and Flemingate, which have good CCTV coverage with a view to catching offenders.

Multiagency work will be carried out with the council to obtain and distribute bike locks and other safety features to residents, focusing specifically on young persons.

Tackling street drinking and begging in Beverley. Patrols will continue to show presence around Lord Robert Road shelter to reassure residents and to take positive action. We will continue to speak with shops via the Shop Watch scheme as several of our repeat anti-social behaviour offenders are also involved in shop lifting which will help to see a bigger picture of individual circumstances and offending.

Anti-social Behaviour remains high on our agenda throughout the summer holidays, in particular Flemingate and Saturday Market area which is a busy location with commercial businesses and pubs/bars.

There will be regular high viz patrols in hot spot areas and will continue to do so over the coming months.

Patrols have regularly attended the Beck and Tickton Bridge and have liaised with any persons present and will continue to do so over the summer months.

Numerous successful bike mark events have taken place in June and July and patrols will continue to monitor cycle theft incidents with a view to building up a pattern of offending and identify suspects.

High visibility patrolling will be a continued theme throughout the coming months due to ongoing issues regarding shop thefts.

There have been some successful arrests made last month due to a mixture of our hard-working patrols gathering intel and the use of social media also. Patrols will continue to gather intel and work closely with other agencies to deter prolific shoplifters.

There will be a continued high visibility presence of patrols over the coming months to deter any would be criminals who are targeting properties and businesses alike.

We regularly deploy high visibility patrols to our communities in response to reports of criminal damage, drug dealing and anti-social behaviour. The local policing team have also had productive meetings with partners from East Riding Council, Parish Councils and Neighbourhood Watch groups to listen to community concerns.

Rest assured, where we receive reports of anti-social and criminal behaviour, we will not hesitate to act. If you witness any such behaviour in your community, please let us know so we can respond, target patrols to the relevant areas and stop criminals in their tracks.

Humberside Police’s Halloween campaign aimed at helping to combat burglary offences, help reduce incidents of Anti-Social Behaviour and to provide advice and support to the local communities.
Officers from neighbourhood policing teams will be going out and speaking to schools across the force about anti-social behaviour and encouraging youngsters to enjoy the festivities without becoming a nuisance in their neighbourhood.

Our officers are also committed to eradicating the harm that the illegal and anti-social use of off-road bikes cause to the communities through our Operation Yellowfin.

Switch on to safer streets and always leave a light on and keep burglars out

Always lock your doors; even when you leave briefly, are outside on your property, or inside your home. Also, keep your valuables in a safe or lockbox when you go out.
•Lights - You can get plug-in timers for your lamps - and timers for your ceiling lights. Don't just light up the hall. Fool a burglar by lighting up the landing, bathroom, bedroom and living room too. Really fox him by varying the times each light comes on.

•Sound advice - Use a plug-in timer for a radio - make it a talk station rather than music.

•Windows - Remember to shut all windows, even small and upstairs ones, when you leave the house, in your garden or in the rear of your property. If you're upstairs, close your downstairs windows and if you're planning some time away, get a trusted neighbour to shut the curtains at night. You could return the favour some time.

Rural crime is not limited to the farmyard. Serious and organized crime groups are often linked to rural and wildlife crime particularly in relation to theft of agricultural machinery and poaching like hare coursing.

Patrols across East Riding are reminding farmers to review their security and to keep their properties/equipment safe.

The period from today (Monday 28 October) to Sunday 10 November is always one of our busiest, however, we would like to offer reassurance to those who are looking to enjoy Bonfire Night or those that prefer not to. We want to remind those intent of causing harm or committing offences, that we are out in force and ready to act against anyone spoiling others’ fun.

You will begin to see additional police presence on patrol in and around your neighbourhood over this period. We really want everyone to enjoy themselves so we want to remind the public we will be there to deal with any incidents promptly.

“We take a zero-tolerance approach when it comes to anyone deliberately looking to harm others enjoying the occasions. This includes people being antisocial and behaving in a way that taunts or intimidates people, or throwing things at people, their houses, or cars.

Over the next two weeks (Monday 28 October – Monday 11 November) officers will be conducting roadside vision screening and sharing important information about how motorists can keep their vision clear in all light conditions.

Under legislation known as Cassie’s Law[1], drivers who fail a roadside number plate test could have their licence revoked on the spot if a police officer deems them to be unsafe to be on the road. Other penalties for not meeting the legal eyesight standards include a possible fine or penalty points on your licence.

Residents in the East Riding are being urged to beware of a scam being sent out via text messages ordering people to pay non-existent parking fines.

If you feel that you have been scammed and would like to speak to someone face to face please come into your local police station for a confidential chat. It is highly likely that it will be a known scam and you will not be alone. If your local police station is closed or you are unable to get there promptly, please do not delay.
