A return steam excursion from Penzance is photographed approaching the former station at Chacewater which was once located behind the photographer. Here you could once change for Perranporth and Newquay. Not now though, the station has long gone, shut under the plans of Beeching. As did the Perranporth railway to Newquay. Some of the station buildings survived into the 1980s with a couple of sidings which were still used for cement traffic but now you would never know a station once existed here.
