Cottimore Lane pre-dates all the modern roads and houses in this area of Walton-on-Thames. It was a track from Walton-on-Thames that ran through the hamlet of Cottimore to Rydens Lane. The north-western section eventually became the present-day road, but this section, at the rear of the new Walton Oak Primary School, remained as a green lane and as a public right of way.
