This embankment forms part of the old "Forcett railway" a private railway built in 1866 which linked the Darlington to Barnard Castle line at Gainford to quarries at East Layton and Forcett, and Forcett Goods Station https://sites.google.com/site/keymapsgb/nz/nz3.
