This former field boundary leads the eye off Merthyr Common to Mynydd Fochriw in the distance beyond Cwm Bargoed. Remarkably this part of upper Cwm Bargoed seems to have survived the industrial ravages of the 19th and 20th centuries largely intact as a rural landscape.
