This station is an intermediate stop on the electrified main line from Ore to Lewes. It was opened by the London Brighton & South Coast Railway in 1846 and is one of the original stations on the Company's line from Lewes to Bopeep Junction, St Leonards. The building seen here is situated on the eastbound or 'down' platform and dates from the early 1890s.
