Iris is from the Greek word for rainbow, reflecting their many colours. These white beauties were growing beside a pond at the farm entrance. The nearest I could get with identification was a Japanese iris or an F.11 hybrid. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iris_%28plant%29 gives more information.
