Today the street is lined on both sides with parked cars. At this time any cars would have been kept in the wooden lock up garages at the bottom of the road. The original 50 year old gas street lights were replaced by electric in 1958. They were replaced about 50 years later. The original deeds said that each house should have 2 trees in the front 'garden'. That poplar survived a few more years but it wasn't a practical stipulation. (Lightly colourised to bring to life.)
