The Sailors' Home

Grade II listed former Sailors' Home by A W Morant in 1858, extended by Olley & Haward 1908. It served as a respite for shipwrecked sailors 1861-1965, during which time it cared for 11,000 shipwrecked seamen from 29 nations, given food, accommodation and medical care. The building became a Maritime Museum 1967-2002 and Tourist Information Centre until 2020, now Horatio's restaurant with accommodation above.
