House originally built in 1823 for Viscount Cranley (later the 3rd Earl of Onslow) who wanted to move away from Clandon Park (on the other side of The Street) following a family feud with his father. It took its name from the old name for West Clandon. It was extensively remodelled in the late 1880s by Ernest George and Harold Peto. In the early 20th Century it was the home of Howard Guinness, a partner in the merchant banking firm, Guinness Mahon. Much of the associated land (The New Park) was used in the 1990s to create Clandon Regis golf course.
