This cedar of lebanon tree trunk has been carved by Andrew Frost, with figures of bishops and some of their accoutrements carved in cedar. On top is a sculpture of Bishop Porteus (Bishop of London from 1787-1809). He was a campaigner for the abolition of the slave trade and left his collection of books to create the library at which he is staring. The tree has been carved in memory of Peter Moorhouse (1957-2003), a local resident.
