Originally known as the Cross Keys, this pub claims to be the oldest in the town, having started as a coaching inn and livery stable in the early C19 (note the passageway through to the stables to the right). Listed grade II (list entry 1379592). The later name Cheshire Lines refers to the railway company that operated from nearby Lord Street station from 1884 to 1952.
