The canal crosses the railway on the viaduct that can be seen beyond the platforms. This stretch of railway from Birmingham to Bescot opened in 1837 as part of the Grand Junction Railway, but Tame Bridge Parkway opened only in 1990. The canal was, unusually, built later than the railway, in 1841-44.
