Like most Fenland villages, Lode has a mixture of old timber-framed cottages, plain nineteenth-century brick houses and more modern additions. The thatched house on the left is Grade II listed: "Two cottages, built as one dwelling late in C17, sub-divided in early C19. Timber-framed, plaster rendered with steeply-pitched thatched roof of long straw and an original ridge stack, partly rebuilt, and an early C19 stack. Two storeys".
