New Michael Street, Kingston upon Hull

Originally Michael Street, 'New' was added to the street name when the area was redeveloped in the 1930s. It is possibly named after Michael de la Pole, a 14th-century Chancellor and son of William de la Pole, who both played pivotal roles in the town's economic and political history. William Street is a little further south, also branching off Porter Street.
