A small electricity substation on Coldharbour Lane is partly obscured by Bindweed. It is close to the site of the former chapel of St Martin's. The church was built between 1252 and 1254 on 'new land' to the east of Marlborough, serving the expanding parish. It was transferred from Preshute parish to the Marlborough of St Mary's around 1548 but by 1567 it had ceased to be used for services, and is now lost under the housing.
