This old wallbox stands inside the main entrance to the pub and now serves as an ornament. I am guessing that it is the same box that was located at the crossroads next to the pub. Old OS maps show a letterbox there first appearing between the 1882 and 1901 editions. It was probably removed and ended up in the pub when the A417 was dualled in the 1990s . The Highwayman Inn in, is (in my opinion), a nice old pub with a cosy interior. It is an Arkells pub and until around 1960 was called the Masons Arms. It dates back at least to the 1700s, perhaps further.
