I only today noticed this roof ridge tile finial in the shape of a grotesque creature despite many years of traipsing up and down the road. I can't make out what it is meant to be but it looks like it escaped from a Hieronymus Bosch painting. This is above number 170 Philip Lane and five doors east there is a more common dragon roof finial above that house. I assume that they are originals from the late nineteenth century when the housing went up.
