The sculpture to the left of the image, painted to resemble a pirate, is one of The Great Tail Trail. Each of the 45 sculptures was sponsored by a local business or organisation. This one was sponsored by Castlepoint shopping centre, where it stands. The floral displays in the wooden troughs commemorate "VE80", the 80th anniversary of the end of conflict in Europe after six years of war, which was marked in early May 2025. May 1945 wasn't quite the end of the Second World War, as conflict continued until Japan surrendered in August that year.
