Murals in Colinton Tunnel

The tunnel was part of the branch line to Balerno, and now part of the Water of Leith Walkway. The inside of the tunnel is decorated with colourful murals including the poem 'From a Railway Carriage' by Robert Louis Stevenson. Some of the murals are painted on sheets of wood attached to the sides of the tunnel. Damp is a persistent problem, and the upkeep of the tunnel costs £750o a year.
