There are vast swathes of this wild garlic all along the banks of the Water of Leith, interspersed with similar swathes of Few-flowered Garlic (Allium paradoxum). Both are invasive, but at least this one is native, unlike the other. Even so, it has to struggle to compete with another invasive species, Butterbur (Petasites hybridus) whose leaves also carpet the ground here.
