Hemsby is an independent lifeboat service and is unusual in providing not only inshore rescue, but also inland rescue throughout the neighbouring Broads area. There is concern over the future of the station due to continuing erosion of the coast. These buildings replaced a station behind the camera that was destroyed during the 2013 storm surge https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3772604 .
