The Jubilee Gardens were first opened (on the site of former buildings) to mark Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee of 1977. Sir Henry Farrington unveiled a plaque at the time and his son, Sir Harry, unveiled another in 2012. Artist Stephen Joyce made casts of lots of local residents' hands in 2004 and made these distinctive gates.
