A brick-built lodge to Barningham Hall with a thatched roof, built in 1807 and attributed to the architect John Adey Repton. The lodge is located beside the entrance to Barningham Hall > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/782201. Matlaske is situated at the southeastern edge of Barningham Hall and Park, and many villagers would have worked for the estate at some time in the past. A number of fine old brick and flint cottages line The Street, the main thoroughfare through the village.
