St Mary's Church was built in 1871, by the famous architect Sir G G Scott. It is in Early English style. The church was founded in medieval times and the tower of the old church still stands. Behind the church is a motte, probably Saxon. Note the high wall on the left side of the road - a previous owner wanted privacy!
