First World War memorial, erected in 1921; further inscription added after the Second World War. The war memorial is prominently situated on the summit of St Michael’s Hill and takes the form of a Celtic-style wheel cross and a tall shaft on a rectangular plinth, which in turn rests on a square three-stepped base. The front (east) face of the plinth is inscribed in black painted lettering: IN/ EVERLASTING/ MEMORY/ OF THE MEN OF/ MINEHEAD/ WHO LAID DOWN/ THEIR LIVES IN THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914-1918. The names of the fallen are recorded on the north, west and east faces. A stone bench was added to the south side of the base after the Second World War; its back is inscribed with the names of the Fallen.
