Messack Farm Estate, St Just in Roseland

This tiny harbour, alongside the National Trust's Messack Walk, may have been used before the days of bagged lime to land shell sand or the calcareous seaweed, "maerl", to sweeten acid farmland. These sanding roads are common in the area and take advantage of natural features to provide relatively safe access from the sea.
