The sign on the window glass says 'Harrow Inn'. A short distance to the right is one of a number of bridges crossing the Gala river which once powered the textile mills which were the town's source of wealth and development until overtaken by improved production methods on the continent and in the far east. Many famous Borders tweed and knitwear manufacturers have ceased trading in recent decades.
