The founder of what became the important contracting firm of Mowlem, a local stonemason who went on to greater things. Died March 8th 1868, aged 79. Grade II listed. The upper part is Guernsey granite (Mowlem's customary source for granite), and the mason was H. Bisson of Vale, Guernsey.
