This brutalist hotel building faces onto Lower Castle Street. In this view a substantial chunk of the hotel has been given over to the Bristol Hi-Fi Show, an event held annually over a weekend in late February. Hotels tend to be favoured for Hi-Fi shows because bedrooms can be converted into demonstration rooms with at least some soundproofing - a conventional exhibition hall would end up with a terrible cacophony. It is possible to spend some serious money here - one company was showing off its flagship system which would set you back about a quarter of a million.
