Although no longer used as the entrance, the Gatehouse still houses the original gate and is about 35 yards to the front of the main farmhouse at Gilar, a working farm near Pentrefoelas. The drainpipes bear the date 1623. The house was built for the High Sheriff of Denbighshire.
