Built in 1858 as the Free South Church. When the nearby St Mary's Parish Church was demolished in the 1970s, it became St Mary's South. The church closed in 2002 and remains empty. It is in the Buildings at Risk Register https://www.buildingsatrisk.org.uk/details/917049. It is category B listed https://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB48970.
