This is one of the 'rose' castings made at the foundry of F Mattison & Co. Bedale, although the foundry was in Leeming Bar. It was damaged but in 2011 was repaired, funded by LEADER. The Rural District Councils were formed in 1894 so this style of milepost will date from the late 19th to very early 20th centuries. It is near White House Farm just south of Great Barugh, pronounced Barf according to a local. Note Kirkbymoorside spelt with only one k.
