Inside the back of the milestone on Malton Road, B1257, in Slingsby. On the left is the foundry name, F MATTISON & Co/BEDALE. This shows it is an original milepost, one of only 3 remain that remain on this route. It is thought that this style of post was cast at the end of the 19thC or beginning of the 20thC. Grade II listed 1173339.
