Cast iron post by the B1257, in parish of SLINGSBY (RYEDALE District), Malton Road; southern end of Balksyde, on the verge near crossroads, on North side of road. Bedale iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th/20th century. Inscription reads:- : {pointing hand->} / MALTON / 6 / MILES : : {<-pointing hand} / HELMSLEY / 10 / MILES : Maker:- : F.MATTISON & Co / BEDALE. : Grade II listed.
