This is the former Yorkshire imperial Metals Hafod Works at Landore. The works closed as recently as 1980 and is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. However, this rare 1910 built John Musgrave uniflow built to a Stumpf license has not been faring too well. My attempts to have an official visit before the works closed and fell into dereliction were sadly unsuccessful. I would love to have seen this works in good condition. Since my last visit in 2012 the site has improved with a new roof, restored crane, security fencing and safe flooring over the previous holes. It is intended to restore this engine to a workable condition but it is a gargantuan job. This view includes the heavily robbed and damaged barring engine in the right foreground. It is intended to restore this first. Paradoxically, a sunny day is not the best for photographing this engine as the light is very uneven.
