The Long Stone at the junction of Under Minnow Road and Bellaire, on the outskirts of Barnstaple, is an ancient standing stone. It's age is difficult to pin down but it may be prehistoric. However, it has had a little wander since it was first erected. Some records suggest it fell over in the nineteenth century and was repositioned seventeen feet from the original spot by Mr Lee of Broadgate House in a walled garden. It was repositioned again in 1967 when road works were carried out. It now has its own small garden which shows it off nicely.
