This statue features "fame", and was part of a larger statue featuring Queen Victoria in Market Place, unveiled on the 24th of July 1903. The original statue had a 22 foot wide cross shaped base which was removed when the main part of the monument featuring Queen Victoria was relocated in 1966 to its current position in Victoria Park, after spending 33 years dismantled in Greenham Gardens. "Fame" has been damaged over the years, and is missing most of one arm. Most of the damage is to the rear. For the rest of the statue in Victoria Park, see Image For a closer look at the front of fame, see Image For the rear of fame, see Image One may ask, how does one know that this statue is the "fame" from Queen Victoria's statue?
