The diesel electric locomotive has just run around its coaching stock and is backing on it before departing for Kidderminster. This big job is a Class 37 diesel electric locomotive that is one of 309 produced between 1960 and 1965. This was built at the Vulcan Foundry. It is 61' 6" long, weighs 105 tons and is powered by a 1750 brake horsepower English Electric 12CSVT diesel driving a DC generator powering traction motors in a Co-Co configuration. This is now based at the Telford Steam Railway and returned to service in 2021 after a restoration lasting 18 years. Some members of the class are still running on Network Rail and more than 40 have been preserved.
