The steep bank above the flat wetland of The Lurgies looks like a raised beach. I was astounded to discover shortly after taking this that the 45º slope underneath the trees is covered with a deep layer of fine glutinous welly-boot-engulfing smelly mud, in spite of being several metres above sea level.
